Making money in EQ2 at low levels is fairly easy if you invest the time but you have to know what to look for and what you should be selling.
Before we begin, go to the broker in your home city. (Ask a guard where it is or search for it on your EQ2Maps.) Buy the roomiest strong box you can afford, even if it’s expensive; you will make the money back ASAP. Click on the Sell tab of the broker window and drop that box in the top. Voila! You now have a store on the broker.
First rule of newbie money-making: Harvesting. It isn’t glamorous but it is effective. Mining, in particular, is your friend. Those level 1-9 tin clusters that are taking up space in your backpacks are currently selling for 22-40 silver via the broker on Antonia Bayle at the time of this writing. It fluctuates, but mine 100 tin clusters and sell ‘em off and you’ve got the beginning of a nice little nest egg. Roots go for a mint, too, because everybody needs them. This is true from level 1 to level 90, so get to picking.
Where should you harvest and what will you get? IGN has the answer. Personally, I am physically incapable of walking past roots or ore – it’s like walking past a pile of gold. GOLD, PEOPLE!
Right then. Moving on.
As you adventure, you’ll get spell books for other classes. You might be tempted to vendor them. Don’t! Save up Adept level spell books and put them in your store on the broker for 4-6 gold. The people who will be buying these are the people who want to work on Transmuting (destroying things to get components for Adorning). You could do that, too, but it dries up a major source of revenue for a new player. I would recommend against that if you’re just starting out.
Plant food. Yes, that’s right. You’ll see those small decaying bones, flasks of pond water, pouches of peat, things like that – those are plant food for bizarre plants that people keep in their houses. They eat the plant food and out comes… other stuff. I’m not sure what, but people buy those plant foods like crazy. Save ‘em up and put them in your store.
Those are just a few of the basics that I use to build up my fortune. The steady money comes from harvesting, with nice bonuses from the rares you get. The Adepts and plant food are nice boosts, as well.
Next time, we’ll talk about what we should be buying with our hard earned money, honey.
